Dolores Johnson 89 of Montezuma and formerly of Deep River passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at the Montezuma Specialty Care. Dolores L. Johnson, the daughter of Wilbur and Evelyn (Slack) Moore, was born on Saturday, May 15, 1931 at her home on a farm north of Keswick.

Dolores graduated from Millersburg High School and received her Teaching Certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

Dolores taught country school until she was married.

On July 20, 1951, Dolores was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson at the Montezuma United Methodist Church. To this union six children were born, Raymond “Rinky”, Deann, Jan, Randy, Jacki and Tammi. They later divorced, however, as the years passed their connection and friendship remained.

Dolores was a homemaker for many years before going to work at Sig Manufacturing. She ran a printing press at Sig’s for 30 plus years before retiring.

Dolores was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. Embroidery and quilting kept her busy and her children and grandchildren have many keepsakes made by Dolores over the years. She was a member of the Deep River American Legion Auxiliary where she held various offices at the unit and county levels.

Dolores’ legacy will be honored by her children, Deann (Ron) Struble of Manchester, Jan (Lyle) Hoffmann of Manchester, Randy (Gail) Johnson of Deep River, Jacki (Bill) Bolen of Montezuma and Tammi (Gary) Quinlan of Montezuma, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Raymond “Rinky” Johnson Jr.; son-in-law, Dick Greenslade; a granddaughter, Angela Nicholson and former husband and dear friend, Raymond “Rink” Johnson.
