Dagrin Collects Second All-America Award with Record-Breaking Effort
Brookings, S.D.–Loubert Dagrin (So., Miami, Fla., Sociology) bettered his own school record at the biggest meet of the year en route to gaining hardware at the 57th Annual NAIA Indoor National Championship.
Dagrin garnered his second All-America honor by placing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, breaking his old top mark in a time of 7.94 seconds. Brandon Schultz of Brewton-Parker (Ga.) won the national title in 7.80 seconds.
The sophomore, who was also fifth in the 110-meter hurdles last spring, is the 29th All-American in program history. He is the eighth multiple All-American in William Penn men’s track and field history.
Torian Kingston (Sr., Queens, N.Y., Sports Management) posted a pair of strong showings at the Championship as well. The senior finished 13th in the 400-meter dash in 48.89 seconds (Ben Jefferies of Briar Cliff won at 46.37), and also took 21st in the 200-meter dash in 22.00 seconds (Zayquan Lincoln of Indiana Tech was first in 20.80 seconds).
Justin Moeller (Jr., Keota, Iowa, Psychology) represented the jumpers, finishing 19th in the long jump at 22-6.25. Jackson Thomas (Bethel-Ind.) took gold at 25-4.75.
Courtesy of Dagrin’s placing, William Penn placed 46th with 4.5 points, while Oklahoma City was the team national champion with 62 points (Indiana Tech was a close second with 59 points).
“We had some hiccups, but in the end we performed really well, highlighted by Lou being an All-American again,” Head Coach Allen Friesen said. “I cannot say enough about how the coaches got our athletes prepared and how hard the athletes worked. We look forward to having a great outdoor season.”
