Congressman Boswell Helps Fight Off Attacker At His Daughters Farm

Leonard Boswell

Lamoni, Iowa – U.S. Congressman and his family are only suffering from some scrapes and bruises, after an attempted home invasion at the home of his daughter in Lamoni, Iowa.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. Saturday night, a man with a gun entered the front door of the farm house and assaulted his daughter Cindy Brown, demanding money at gunpoint. The Congressman, hearing his daughters screams, then entered the entryway and attempted to disarm the intruder.

While the Congressman and the intruder were fighting, Boswell’s grandson secured a shotgun from another room in the home. Mitchell Brown then pointed the shotgun at the intruder who then retreated into the fields around the Brown home. Dody Boswell, Congressman Boswell’s wife, was also at the residence during the attack.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the incident alongside state and federal authorities.

The Congressman stated he would like to express his sincere thanks to all the members of the law enforcement community who worked through the night on this matter.
