Central fourth in league men’s tennis tourney
IOWA CITY—For the second straight year, the Central College men’s tennis team claimed a fourth-place finish in the Iowa Conference team tournament.
In Saturday’s semifinals the Dutch were blanked by Coe, 5-0. Later, Cornell defeated Central for the second time this spring, 5-2, in the third-place match.
Central’s only victories against Cornell came in doubles. Dan Bowser (senior, Fort Dodge) and Seth Harris (junior, Waverly, Neb.) were 8-4 winners at No. 1 while Jacob Dreyer (senior, Cedar Falls) and Bryn Boswell (sophomore, Pella) recorded an 8-6 win at No. 2.
Central closes with a 10-14 record, including a 9-13 spring season mark. The Dutch graduate two players from their top six, Bowser and Dreyer.
The team singles’ victories lead was shared by Dreyer and Zane Hendricks (freshman, Fort Dodge), who each posted 13-12 records. Boswell and Dreyer led in doubles at 11-11.
