Bonita Ann Williams
Oskaloosa. Bonita Ann Williams, 72, of Oskaloosa died Sunday, September 19, 2010, at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born on March 2, 1938, at Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of William F. and Evelyn Roselle Barnett. She graduated from Rock Island High School with the class of 1956. Following high school she was united in marriage to William Keith Eckles; he died in February of 1982. Early on Bonita went to work for the United States Army Rock Island Arsenal at Rock Island. Later she worked for Blackhawk State Bank in Milan, Illinois, and then Milan Drug for a time. Lastly she worked at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop at Walcott; she retired from there in 1992. On April 4, 1992, she was united in marriage to Jerry Williams at Oskaloosa. She enjoyed playing Poker and Bingo on-line, fishing with Jerry, and bargain hunting at garage sales. She took great pride in caring for her family.
Her family includes her husband Jerry Williams of Oskaloosa; four sons: Marty (& Camille) Eckles of Sigourney, Mark (& Peggy) Eckles of Oskaloosa, Mike Eckles of Ottumwa, and Todd (& Staci) Eckles of Oskaloosa; four step children: Jeff (& Sarah) Williams of Aransas Pass, Texas, Mark (& Aletha) Williams of Winterset, Tracey (& Brett) Mitchell of Oskaloosa, and Waylon Williams of Oskaloosa; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a sister: Ardith Palos of East Moline, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband.
Funeral services for Bonita Williams will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Greenview Cemetery at East Moline, Illinois on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Open visitation will begin Tuesday after 11:30 a.m. and will be open until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
