Big Sixth Inning Leads Carlisle Varsity Wildcats Past Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity)

Carlisle Varsity Wildcats scored four runs in the sixth inning, which helped them defeat Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) 7-1 on Saturday.

Carlisle Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the top of the first inning after Joey Marker singled, and Carson Guthrie grounded out, each scoring one run.

Wyatt Grubb hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth for the Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity).

Jaden DeRonde stepped on the bump first for Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity). The starting pitcher gave up six hits and three runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two. Ryan Petersen stepped on the hill first for Carlisle Varsity Wildcats. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two.

Grubb led Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) with two hits in three at bats. Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) turned two double plays in the game.

Carlisle Varsity Wildcats amassed nine hits in the game. Joe Goodhue, Hayden Mohwinkle, and Gavin Pienkowski each collected two hits for Carlisle Varsity Wildcats. Tate Heideman provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Carlisle Varsity Wildcats with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Carlisle Varsity Wildcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Logan Hart had the most chances in the field with 10.
