Betty J. Dorland
Betty J. Dorland, 52, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, October 21, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born February 22, 1959, the daughter of Melvin and Leona Valster Beyer in Oskaloosa. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1978. Following school, she worked at Hardee’s in Oskaloosa for 8 years. On August 12, 1992, she was united in marriage to (Clarence) Vernon Dorland in Oskaloosa and he died January 22, 2008. She enjoyed counted cross stitch and various handicraft work.
Betty is survived by her brother: Kenneth Beyer of Oskaloosa and a sister: Susan Long of Omaha, Nebraska.
Besides her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Keith Beyer, and a sister in law: Joyce Beyer.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. in Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Sunday after 12 noon, and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Sunday from 1 – 3 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
