Agnes Talley, formerly of Deep River, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Brooklyn Estates in Brooklyn, Iowa. Mary “Agnes” Talley was born on August 25, 1937 in Camden, TN., the daughter of Raymond Nunnery and Mary Christine Peebles.
Agnes attended school in Camden and later moved to Chicago.
She met and married Robert Talley.
Agnes worked in several factories in Chicago before moving back to rural Deep River. Bob drove a truck and Agnes rode with him. They were the parents of John Talley. Agnes was also a waitress at Widmer’s Café before going to work at Monte Manufacturing. She then became a waitress at Dickies, Star Inn and eventually retired from Farmer Nick’s.
Agnes adored her two granddaughters, Julie and Jenny. She was very active in helping out with community events, enjoyed her Friday night supper club, loved to garden, was a member of the 50 plus club and very active in the United Church women’s group.
Agnes is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jeanne; her granddaughters, Julie (& Scott) Meeker and Jenny Talley; her great grandchildren, Steven Meeker and Daniel Linville; her honorary sons: David Hohenshell, Dennis Henle, and Richard Hegarty.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Talley; her son, John Talley; and a daughter in infancy, Robbie Jean Talley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church in Deep River.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be held in the Golden Rod Cemetery at Deep River.
Memorials may be directed to American Home Finding Association, a non-profit organization where her granddaughter Julie works.
