Accident East Of Oskaloosa Claims The Life Of What Cheer Woman

Oskaloosa, Iowa – An afternoon accident just East of Oskaloosa involving two vehicles resulted in traffic being diverted as emergency crews worked to get the injured to Mahaska Health Partnership Sunday afternoon around 3:15 pm.

A 1996 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Lori Hazen, 45, of What Cheer was East bound on Highway 92 just past Osburn Ave (2 miles east of Oskaloosa) when she crossed the center line and hit the 2000 Hyundai Sonata driven by Jessica Grahek of Oskaloosa head-on.

Grahek was traveling West on 92 when her vehicle was struck, but both her and the other vehicle came to rest in the East bound travel portion of the highway.

Also transported to Mahaska Health Partnership was Grahek’s passenger, Georgia Parashos, 18, of Norridge IL.

Hazen was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, Oskaloosa PD, Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Services as well as Oskaloosa Fire.
