Members of the E911 Board and the Emergency Management Commission met this past week in order to further discuss a proposed 28E agreement between the two entities.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The committee, made up of members of the Emergency Management Commission and the E911 Board, met this past week to hammer out any issues on a 28E agreement. That agreement could see Mahaska County Emergency Management Coordinator Jamey Robinson become the director for 911 communications, along with being the emergency management coordinator.

The discussion started nearly a year ago, when the former E911 director stepped down from that position. An interim director took over while the E911 board has been discussing its options on filling the position.

The emergency management commission then proposed a potential cost saving measure by having the emergency manager also be responsible for the E911 position, in an effort to help save the taxpayers of Mahaska County some money.

The proposal would still see two separate boards. The E911 board would only meet once a year to approve the allocation of funds specified by state law, and the emergency management board would then be responsible for the personnel of both departments.

The committee made of members from both boards approved the 28E agreement, paving the way for the document to be discussed by both full boards.
