1964: Seven tornadoes touched down in Iowa with two of these injuring people in northeastern portions of the state. One tornado produced F3 damage in Buchanan County, nearly leveling a home and injuring one person near Hazelton. Another tornado produced F2 damage in Black Hawk County, injuring 27 people as it traveled through Waterloo before dissiptating near Raymond.
1938: Rain across Iowa on May 7-8 changed to sleet and snow at times producing light accumulations at a few northern locations. Rockwell City recorded a total of 1.2 inches of snow, Le Mars 3.0 inches, and Mason City and Storm Lake reported 4.0 inches. At Des Moines a trace of snow was recorded on the morning of the 8th.
