7th Grade Volleyball Takes Pella

The 7th grade volleyball team was in action last Thursday and again last night taking on Pella and Grinnell.

In the Pella match, the A-team would move their record to 4-0 with a sweep of the Dutch with scores of 15-10, 15-10, 15-5, 15-13, and 15-9. The team was led by Maleah Walker with 8 aces along with 2 kills and 1 dig followed by Faith VanMersbergen with 5 aces, 1 kill and 2 digs, Lucy Roach with 4 aces and 2 kills, Presely Blommers with 2 aces, Kaia Cook with 2 aces and 1 kill and Kyndi Humphrey with 3 kills.

The B-team would battle hard and take 3 of 5 against the Dutch for another win in their season with scores of 15-12, 15-9, 7-15, 8-15, and 15-9. The team was led by Hailey Landers with 8 aces and 2 digs followed by Adriana Ramos with 4 aces, Mallory Bihn with 2 aces, Katelynn Marsh with 2 aces, Ally Nolan with 1 ace and 1 dig, and Isabelle Fuller with 1 dig.

The C/D team would fight hard, but came up short with scores of 4-15, 16-14, 11-15, 15-13, 12-15, 13-15, 15-11, 6-15, 8-15, and 8-15. The team was led by Shakira Shillings with 5 aces followed by Macy Braden, Lilly McKay, and Andalyn Ide with 3 aces each, 2 aces for Morgan Ford, Mackenzie Whennen, Isabelle Larson, and Ava Doty, and 1 ace each for Delaney Crouse and Alley Bunnell.

Last night the girls traveled to Grinnell to take on the the Tigers.

The A-team dominated with a sweep to move their record to 5-0. The scores were 25-13, 25-18, and 25-16. The team was led by Maleah Walker with 10 aces followed by Presley Blommers with 8 aces, Lucy Roach with 7 aces, 1 kill and 1 dig, Faith VanMersbergen with 3 aces, 1 kill and 2 digs, Kaia Cook with 2 aces and 2 kills, and Kyndi Humphrey with 1 ace and 1 kill.

The B- team came up just short of continuing their winning streak with scores of 11-25, 25-5, and 25-27. The team was led by Katelynn Marsh with 8 aces followed by Adriana Ramos with 2 aces, Ally Nolan with 1 ace, Mallory Bihn with 1 ace and Hailey Landers with 2 digs.

The C/D team took a little while to warm up, but found their stride and would defeat the Tigers with scores of 17-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-9, 25-14, and 25-13. The team was led by Macy Braden with 11 aces followed by Lill McKay with 9, Ava Doty with 8, Alley Bunnell with 5, Skylar Long-Meyers with 3, Andalyn Ide and Mackenzie Whennen with 2 each, and Shakira Shillings, Morgan Ford, and Delaney Crouse with 1 ace each.

We are pleased with how the girls continue to work hard and are becoming more active on the court. We are still working with learning the basics, but excited to see growth each match.

The next match is next Tuesday as the Indians play host to Norwalk at 4:30.
