2011 Scholarship Golf Tournament Still A Success
Bank Iowa sponsored this hole at the 2011 OACDG (Oskaloosa Area Chamber and Development Group) Scholarship Golf Tournament
With a Shotgun start at 10 a.m., the OACDG 2011 Scholarship Golf Tournament got underway. It was a soggy event this year, but 22 teams of 4 were still signed up to help the benefit. The golf benefit was held on Friday the 13th at the Edmundson Golf course.
Individual entry fees were $50.00 and a hole could be sponsored for $300.00. If someone sponsored a hole, they got golf, a cart and lunch for 4 as well as signs at their sponsored hole during the event.
The event may have been doused with rain, but the fun meter for most remained high as the $400.00 cash prize to the winning foursome was still on the table. That prize was sponsored by Bank Iowa and MidwestOne Bank.
Dan Adams, Vice President for Bank Iowa in Oskaloosa, said they were out at the Tournament to “help the Chamber, promote ourselves a little bit and just have a little bit of fun at the golf outing.” Bank Iowa was running a fun side game at their sponsored hole. With 2 very small child size clubs, a blue plastic driver and a green plastic putter, they challenged players to a ‘closest to the cup’ contest. For the players with the most skill using the plastic clubs, they would win a Bank Iowa logo golf ball.
Kevin Rausch, Kitchen Manager at our local Hy-Vee store, was on hand supplying lunch for the golfers. They had different stations on the course. One station had brats, chicken salad sandwiches and chips. Another had BBQ wraps and cake with the final station having fresh fruit on a stick and cookies. (the cookies were good)
Edmundson Golf Course is operated by PGA Professional Jeff Peterson. Peterson said of the day, “Not bad, better if the weather was a little better.” Peterson thought that everyone was enjoying themselves despite the soggy conditions, and at times a mild rain that was falling, on the course.
