“May We Never Forget”
There have been perilous times in our nation’s history that there was only one person who could provide the solution. In these perilous times, this person had to sacrifice and leave it all behind and count it but loss. It is this person who the ordinary citizen might take for granted. It is this person who is unwavering in their commitment to others. Their conviction goes unmatched. The person is the American Soldier.
For the men and women who give up their lives, whether for a time to serve our country or forever as they pay the ultimate price, we want to say thank you. We take to heart the passage in John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. Over the years that I have been preaching the Gospel of Christ I have felt a tug inside my heart that has led me to honor our service men and women. There are no words or actions that can express the gratitude that we at the Park church of Christ send to our heroes; past, present, and future.
In an attempt to give a token of our gratitude, we would be so honored to host you for our veterans service Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. We will have a full program including guest speaker Christopher Reed, music by Hal James, and presentation of the colors by the Oskaloosa Honor Guard. We will then enjoy a social time with refreshments provided. This will take place at the Park church of Christ located at 1804 Burlington Road, Oskaloosa (located just across the highway from Carriker Ford).
Everyone is invited to attend from veterans to those who would be so humble to help us honor our veterans. There are only two people who have ever died for you, Jesus the Lord and the American Soldier. Neither have I met in the flesh, and maybe neither have you. This time is reserved for us to say thank you, and for veterans to be thanked. No matter your status, won’t you join us? For further details, please contact Mark Doland at 641-295-0135.
