WPU Sweeps Weekly Heart Awards
Oskaloosa–Hugo Cornish (So., Sydney, Australia, Business Management) and Sean Bohan (Sr., Dublin, Ireland, Business Management) helped William Penn to two more victories as they swept the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week laurels Monday.
Cornish was named Offensive POW, while Bohan was Defensive POW; the awards are the first for both individuals. They assisted the Statesmen (6-0-1) to wins over 2023 national-qualifying foes Olivet Nazarene and Briar Cliff.
Against ONU last Thursday, Cornish tallied one goal, while Bohan recorded two saves in 86-plus minutes of action in the 4-0 victory.
Two days later in a 4-0 win versus BCU, Cornish had a part in three separate goals with one score and two assists. Bohan locked down the Chargers, not permitting a single shot on goal in just under 81 minutes on the pitch.
For the year, Cornish has recorded three goals and three assists, while Bohan has a perfect 0.00 Goals Against Average with two saves in 2024.
WPU now has two awards this fall.
