WPU Produces High Scores as it Opens Competition Slate

York, Neb./Seward, Neb.–The Statesmen dance team had two successful days as it competed in a pair of meets Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, WPU finished fourth out of 10 teams at the York Crown Classic on Friday with 80.33 points, while Grand View was first at 88.93.

The navy and gold then continued their campaign Saturday with two smaller battles at the Concordia Day of Duals. First, William Penn scored 81.7 points to beat York (73.95) and Saint Mary (Neb.) (61.25).

The Statesmen then bettered their score yet again, managing 82.65 points, but unfortunately host Concordia was slightly better at 82.95 points.

William Penn currently ranks 12th in the NAIA and third in the Heart of Athletic Conference.

“I am beyond proud of our ladies and the work they did this past weekend,” Head Coach Abby Reynolds said. “They work together, wanting to do even better than the last performance, and they encourage each other. That is how they got the scores they did this weekend. From where we were a couple years ago to now, this team is special and is setting the legacy for not only now, but what is to come.”

Next Up: William Penn travels to Marshall, Mo. next Saturday to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship.
