WPU Finishes 18th at Hoosier Classic
Indianapolis, Ind.–The William Penn women’s bowling team competed in the Hoosier Classic this weekend, finishing inside the top 20 after placing 18th among 65 teams.
Gabi Evans (Jr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) was the top individual for the Statesmen, placing in 42nd out of 479 bowlers. Evans totaled 1,157 pins across her six games, good for an average of 192.8 per game.
Evie Roen (Sr., Troy, Mich., Applied Mathematics) also placed in the top 100, coming in 85th after totaling 1,097 pins. She averaged 182.8 in her six games with a high game of 211. Destiny Rottman (Sr., Coal Valley, Ill., Digital Communication) finished just outside of the top 100 in 106th, knocking down 1,069 pins.
Alexis Lake (Jr., Kaysville, Utah, Nursing) and Madison Ross (Jr., Charles City, Iowa, Exercise Science) each only bowled three games, but both had strong averages in their short work. Lake averaged 185, while Ross averaged 182.7.
The navy and gold entered Baker play in 19th place. They had a good Baker round, performing consistently through all 15 games, but only gained a single place in the standings, finishing in 18th for the tournament.
What’s Next: The Statesmen are right back in action next weekend for the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship, which will be held in Des Moines on February 26 and 27.
