WPU Drops Five Setter to Evangel

Springfield, Mo.—The Statesmen traveled south to Missouri to take on the Evangel Crusaders in Heart of America Athletic Conference action on Friday night.

Unfortunately, William Penn (16-8, 4-5 Heart) dropped the match to Evangel (14-13, 6-5 Heart) in five sets.

Despite the loss, WPU was able to outhit EU by a slight .198-.186 margin.

Three Statesmen hitters reached at least 10 digs. Jordan Carter (Sr., Sigourney, Iowa, Elementary Education) led the team with 13 kills hitting at a .333 clip. Corrin Lepper (Fr., Jefferson, City, Mo., Exercise Science) finished with 12 kills while also hitting at a solid .333 percentage and Danielle Pendzinski (Jr., Winnebago, Ill., Elementary Education) rounded out the trio with 10 kills, hitting at a team high .409 mark.

Defensively three players reached the double-digit mark in digs for the navy and gold. Ashley Miller (Sr., Kalona, Iowa, Exercise Science) led the team with 25 while Belle Potter (Sr., Spokane, Wash., Sociology) and Haley Smith (Sr., Adrian, Mich., Elementary Education) each had 14 and 11 digs respectively.

Next Up: WPU will stay on the road as they will take on Missouri Valley tomorow, starting at 12 p.m. in Marshall, Missouri.
