William Penn University Dean’s Convocation‏ – Spring 2012

To celebrate the start of a new semester, and officially welcome students back to William Penn, the University will hold its Dean’s Convocation at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24 in the main gymnasium. At the start of each semester convocation is held to set the tone for that semester with the President’s Convocation in the fall and the Dean’s Convocation in the spring.

William Penn University is honored to welcome Clarence Hudson as this year’s guest speaker. Hudson has been a leader in the Central Iowa Community for over twenty years. He came to Iowa as an assistant football coach at Iowa State University and is currently the Executive Director of the Iowa Sports Foundation.

Hudson has been active in the Iowa Association of Business and Industry for many years. He is a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, served on the St. Pius X School Board, has chaired the United Way Campaign and was President of the Board for the J.B. Morris Scholarship Fund.

Hudson also served as the commencement speaker for the 2011 winter graduation for the William Penn University College for Working Adults where he encouraged graduates to find their purpose and strive for success.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the Dean’s Convocation which will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday January 24 in the main gymnasium. Hudson will be encouraging William Penn students, explaining that opportunities for success do exist, though it takes hard work and determination to gain the academic credentials as a foundation for that success.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Noel Stahle commented that “Good things are happening at Penn. We are looking forward to another solid semester. We appreciate the hard work of our students and the dedication, of our caring and supportive faculty.”
