Men’s track and field athlete Xzavion West (Jr., Guthrie, Ky., Undecided) was named the male recipient, while women’s golfer Olivia Lange (Sr., Buckeburg, Germany, Business Management) earned the female honor. West garnered his first career award, while Lange received the award for the fourth time in her career–and second this season.

West had a dominant month in the throwing events, setting a new school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 192-10 at the Grand View Invitational. He won the hammer throw at three meets, including at Grand View (192-10), Mount Mercy (186-8), and Grinnell (186-4), and took runner-up honors at Culver-Stockton (184-3). He also impressed in the shot put, finishing second at Mount Mercy (49-4.5), fourth at both Grinnell (50-9.5) and Grand View (49-8.25), and sixth at Culver-Stockton (48-0.75). In the discus, his best placement was fourth at Grand View with a throw of 143-9.

Lange led the women’s golf team to a strong regular-season finish in April, collecting two individual titles. She shot a 158 (79-79) to win the Mount Mercy Invitational, while William Penn also took the team crown. She then carded a 229 (76-74-79) to claim the top honors at the Heart Championship, helping the Statesmen take first place and qualify for the NAIA National Championship. Lange also finished fourth at the Bethany Classic with a score of 153 (73-80). Overall, the senior averaged 77.1 strokes per round.
