United Way of Mahaska County distributes $30,000 in Special Grants in response to local community needs.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Board of Directors at United Way of Mahaska County has distributed an additional $30,000 in special grant funding to local 501(c)3 human services organizations, in response to a growing need for support as we head into the winter months.
“This time of year is crucial to our local agencies as they find their resources running low, and demand on the increase as we move from fall to winter,” explains United Way Executive Director, Brianne Fitzgerald. “Each year our regular allocations process happens at the beginning of February, and this opportunity to help address the needs of our agencies right now is crucial to our community through the rest of the year.”
Current funding priorities during this grant process were around meeting basic needs, while supporting Education, Financial Stability and Health. The eight 501(c)3 human services agencies that received funding include:
- Crisis Intervention Services
- Ecumenical Cupboard
- Mahaska Homeless Coalition
- Oskaloosa Elementary PTO
- American Red Cross
- Oskaloosa Peer Helpers
- Mahaska County YMCA
- Love in the Name of Christ
