Trio of Statesmen in NAIA’s Preseason Polls
Oskaloosa–Three Statesmen grapplers are ranked in both the conference as well as nationally as the NAIA announced its preseason ratings this week.
As a team, William Penn is ranked 40th in the country with 16 points. Grand View is first in the NAIA with 233 points, holding the slimmest of leads over Life (Ga.) which is second with 232 points. Southeastern (Fla.) (187), Cumberlands (Ky.) (179), and Doane (Neb.) (167) round out the top five.
165-pounder Cameron Hargrove (Sr., Bolingbrook, Ill., Sports Management) headlines WPU’s trio in 16th place, while 133-pounder Lane Scorpil (Jr., Columbus Junction, Iowa, Business Management) is 24th.
184-pounder Branson Bottorff (Sr., Mackinaw, Ill., Industrial Technology) also slides into the ranking in 25th.
Within the Heart of America Athletic Conference, William Penn is ninth with 34 points, while Grand View tops the standings with 226 points.
Hargrove opens the campaign in third, while Scorpil is sixth and Bottorff is seventh.
