Three Ranked in Qualifying Group
Oskaloosa–Still undefeated, Eric Burgey (So., Easton, Pa., Easton HS) continues to top the 149-pound weight class as the NAIA released its fourth regular season wrestling rating Wednesday.
Burgey, who has four falls this year (10-0 overall), remains #1 at 149 pounds, while freshman standout Kyle Soderblom (Fr., Newton, Lynnville-Sully HS) has moved into the national ranking as well.
Soderblom (14-6 with nine falls) is tenth at 184 pounds to help the Statesmen to 17th place in the poll with 22 points.
Rival Grand View is the NAIA’s new #1 (its first-ever #1 ranking in the sport) with 119 points. Southern Oregon is second with 114 points, while Great Falls (Mont.), Campbellsville (Ky.), and Oklahoma City are far back to round out the top five.
Fellow Central Qualifying Group programs Missouri Valley (#7) and Baker (#10) are also in the top 20.
The Statesmen are seventh in the Central Group rating with 46 points, while Grand View remains first with 190.5 points. Oklahoma City has taken over the runner-up position with 150.5 points.
Burgey tops his respective weight group, while Soderblom is up to third. Tommy Kozak (So., Belleville, Mich., Thiel) also joins the ranking for the first time, holding the #4 spot at 141 pounds.
