Three Ranked in NAIA, Four in Heart as Fifth Poll Released

Oskaloosa–The William Penn women’s wrestling team has a handful of grapplers representing it in the ratings as the NAIA released its fifth set of polls Thursday.

The Statesmen, who are 27th in the nation with nine points, have three individuals in the top 20.

Mami Selemani (So., Iowa City, Iowa, Business Management) is currently ranked 16th at 123 pounds, while 116-pounder Catherine Steinkamp (Fr., Quincy, Ill., Biology) is 18th and 170-pounder Andrea Smith (Fr., Rochester, N.Y.) is 20th.

Grand View is the NAIA’s new #1 with 174 points, while Menlo (Calif.) is second (165). Life (Ga.) (163), Campbellsville (Ky.) (162), and Texas Wesleyan (155) round out the top five.

WPU is eighth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with 54 points; Grand View holds the top spot with 226 points.

Doubling up the navy and gold at 116 pounds is Steinkamp in third and Brittany Cotter (Fr., Katy, Texas, Nursing) in fifth.

Selemani and Smith are both fourth at their respective weight classes.
