Oskaloosa–Three members of the William Penn volleyball team were honored for strong campaigns as the 2013 all-Midwest Collegiate Conference teams were announced Friday.

Middle hitters Jeanette Cunningham (Sr., Mt. Orab, Ohio, Elementary Education) and Kylie Giger (So., Elkhart, Ind., Exercise Science) and outside hitter Kristal Campos (Jr., Lancaster, Calif., Sociology) were all part of the 13-player honorable-mention squad. A total of 14 individuals earned first-team recognition as well.

The trio led the Statesmen to a 15-30 record (1-5 MCC).

Cunningham, who picked up her second career honorable mention, posted 277 kills in her final collegiate season. She hit .187 in addition to ten assists, one ace, 61 digs, and 80 blocks (30 solos, 50 assists). The senior had a season-best 16 kills against Mayville State (N.D.) on August 24.

For her career, Cunningham managed 885 kills (.204 attack percentage) with 41 assists, six aces, 233 digs, and 384 blocks (100 solos, 284 assists). Her 885 kills rank seventh in school history as do her 2,495 total attempts. She was most impressive on defense, though, as her block tally puts her fourth on the all-time list.

Giger, a first-time honoree, finished 2013 with 328 kills and a .170 hitting clip. She also added 21 assists and 185 digs and had team highs in aces (43) and blocks (105–35 solos, 70 assists). The sophomore’s season was highlighted with a pair of 14-kill showings.

Giger was tied for third in the league in aces and eighth in aces per set (0.27).

Campos, also a first-time selection, paced WPU’s offense with 343 kills (.162 attack percentage) as well as ten assists, 13 aces, 209 digs, and 31 blocks (8 solos, 23 assists). The junior recorded 19 winners versus Mount Mercy on November 6–the most of any Statesmen player this year. She was named MCC Hitter of the Week on November 4.

Campos ranked fifth in the MCC with 2.90 kills per set.
