The Process Continues On Hiring New County Engineer
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors continued the process of hiring a new county engineer on Monday, setting either March 26th, March 31st or April 3rd as possible dates for interviews of the three candidates who have submitted applications for the position. Each applicant will face an approximate 45 minute interview in front of the board.
Jeff Williams of Rock Rapids Iowa, along with Walter Davis-Oeth of Pocahontas, Iowa and local engineer Mark Van Dyke of Pella have all tossed their names into the hat for the position.
The board also approved the liquor licenses for Larrys Berries and Vi’s Vines and Eddyville Raceway Park.
The Board also approved the purchase of a Caterpillar D5K2 Track-Type Tractor. The county is replace a 1996 model year D4 dozer. The bid for the new tractor is $123,900.00 and the total cost for the machine will be $103,900 after a $20,000 trade-in. A 3 year, or 3000 hour warranty is included in the purchase.
The repairs to the north steps of the law center were approved with the winning bid given to Advanced Concrete Specialists. The bid amount for the project is $3280.00. Oskaloosa Police Chief Jake McGee had received bids for the repair, and then passed along the information at a recent law center meeting. One of the stipulations of the bid was that it must be completed in at least 50 degree weather. The funds for the project will come out of the law center funding, a joint program between the City of Oskaloosa and Mahaska County.
