The Cellar Peanut Pub Clears Hurdles For Special Event
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa City Council approved a request and application for The Cellar Peanut Pub to hold outdoor beer sales on March 30, 2012 in a special session.
In conjunction to the special permit, the city is also allowing closure of the street in front of the establishment, located at 100 B Avenue East, to allow for overflow of the large crowd that is expected.
Radio station Lazer 103.3 ran a contest looking for the best “Dive Bar in South East Iowa” and the local Peanut Pub was named as one of five selected.
The plan is to have the block in front of The Cellar Peanut Pub roped off, much like is done for Friday after Five in June. The band, ‘Fatal Addiction’, is going to be set up, and have a party of “Epic Proportions”, says Marty Duffy, owner of The Cellar Peanut Pub. The fun begins in the early evening on Friday starting shortly after 5 pm.
There will be a $5.00 cover charge, and drinks outside will include $3.00 Tall Boys in the “Peanut Pit” as well as $4.00 Summer Shandy Tall Boys. “The bar will be open, we’re going to keep the pub just like it is, and then focus on the outside as well.”
Duffy says there will be t-shirt sales and games. “It’s going to be a fun thing.”
“We’re going to put on a party for the City of Oskaloosa”, says Duffy.
