Swarts’ Near Perfection in Faceoff Circle Leads to Heart Honor

Oskaloosa–Ryan Swarts (Jr., Boise, Idaho, Industrial Technology) won possession after possession for the Statesmen and his efforts were recognized as he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Monday.

Swarts won his first career award after pacing William Penn to a huge 30-1 win over Saint Mary (Kan.) last Saturday.

In the triumph, Swarts won 11 of the 12 faceoffs in which he participated. He also scored once, assisted on one goal, and collected nine ground balls.

For the year, Swarts is 47-for-69 in faceoffs (68.1%) along with having one goal and two assists. The junior has also picked up 19 ground balls.

The award is the first for the Statesmen this year.
