Statesmen Women Post Strong Finishes at Grinnell Invite

Grinnell–The William Penn women’s track and field team continued its indoor season with a strong showing at the Grinnell Invite on Saturday, highlighted by multiple top finishes.

De’Avae Adderley (Jr., Nassau, Bahamas, Engineering Technology) led the way for the Statesmen as she clocked 26.72 seconds in the 200-meter dash and posted a time of 1:03.94 in the 400-meter dash, securing second place in both events.

Lilly Ostert (So., Madrid, Iowa, Exercise Science) added to WPU’s success with a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter dash (8.10 seconds), while Ellasa Horton (So., Waterloo, Iowa, Human Services) was close behind in fifth (8.11 seconds).

Briana Admire (So., Galesburg, Ill., Biology) also made the podium, placing sixth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:34.88.

“Our women are really starting to learn how to compete,” Head Coach Victoria Vinokur said. “They are racing and throwing smart and putting together the pieces. They are transferring information from practice onto the track and in the ring which is not easy.”

Next Up: William Penn will be back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Open in Maryville, Mo.
