Statesmen of the Week: Breck Putzier and Allyson Stewart

Oskaloosa–Men’s lacrosse player Breck Putzier (So., Minneapolis, Minn., Exercise Science) and softball player Allyson Stewart (Sr., Delta, B.C., Nursing) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of April 3-9, presented by Gardner Collier Jewelry.

Putzier opened his week with a solid three-goal, four-assist performance against Columbia last Thursday. He recorded one ground ball as well in the contest.

Two days later, the sophomore had a career outing as he tied and broke a record in a 29-2 victory over Clarke. In the win, Putzier scored five goals, but more impressively assisted on seven scores. He broke the program mark for single-game assists and also matched the school record for single-game points with 12. Putzier tallied two ground balls against the Pride as well.

Stewart owned a .400 hitting clip (6-for-15) last week, while also scoring three times and tallying six defensive putouts. The senior’s week was highlighted by going 3-for-4 with two runs in WPU’s first game versus MidAmerica Nazarene last Saturday.
