Statesmen of the Week: Anthony Weaver and Laila Pelds

Oskaloosa–Men’s track and field athlete Anthony Weaver (So., Demopolis, Ala., Mechanical Engineering) and softball player Laila Pelds (Sr., Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Elementary Education) have been named Statesmen of the Week for April 28-May 4, an honor presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry. This is the final Statesmen of the Week honor of the 2024–2025 academic year.

Weaver impressed at the Heart Championships last weekend, securing fourth place in both the triple jump (46-4) and long jump (22-2.25) to help the Statesmen finish fourth overall as a team.

Pelds delivered a big weekend at the plate during the Heart Championship, going 4-for-7 for a .571 batting average while leading the team with 12 putouts. Her top performance came against Mount Mercy, where she recorded three hits and eight putouts.
