Statesmen of the Week: Abraham Arroyo and Emily Ferguson

Over the span of four games (WPU won all four games over Presentation), Arroyo hit .538 (7-for-13) with two home runs and one triple. He tallied 12 RBIs and scored six times, while also walking three times, and stealing three bases. The sophomore was hit by pitch once and recorded one sacrifice fly.

Arroyo hit a grand slam on Saturday, and was nearly perfect Sunday. He went 3-for-3 in Sunday’s opener, posting three RBIs, two runs scored, and three stolen bases in the victory. The center fielder finished the week with a 2-for-3 outing that included four RBIs and three runs scored.

Ferguson, who has her team off to a perfect 5-0 start, began her week with five goals on nine shots in a 16-15 overtime win over Northwestern (Minn.) last Thursday. The junior then notched six more goals (on 10 shots) with an assist and a ground ball in an 18-3 triumph versus Saint Mary (Kan.) last Saturday.
