Statesmen Fall to Cumberlands in Duals

Oskaloosa–The William Penn cheer and dance teams had one final preparation before its league championships as it competed against Cumberlands (Ky.) in a virtual dual Saturday.

The dance squad opened the evening with an 84.15-66.65 loss to the Patriots. WPU enters Saturday’s Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship ranked 18th in the NAIA with a 77.83 scoring average.

The cheer team closed out the competition falling 85.35-65.05 to Cumberlands. It serves as the highest score for the group this season and moves WPU up to 56th in the nation (59.55 average) entering the league championship.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Marshall, Mo. Saturday for the Heart Championships. The dance team competes at 11:30 a.m. in the preliminary round, while the cheer squad goes at 12:50 p.m. for its prelim competition.
