Spring Time Fun at Stephen Memorial

Patrick Christian (left) and Rocio Bonilla enjoy the spring time with a couple of Stephen Memorials occupants
If you have been waiting all winter to be able to get out and go for a walk, consider stopping by Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter to help make some adoptable dog’s day by taking them along with you for that walk.
There are many little guys and gals with their tails wagging ready to take a walk with you, and help you enjoy spring. Socializing is important in helping dogs and cats find good homes.
A few of those guys we came across today, that were happy to take on a walk with us, were Elmer and Slade. They are still very young, approximately 3 months of age, and full of life and spirit.
Pumpkin is a Welsh Corgi mix that was found as a stray over by the Football Stadium on March 15th. He is playful and very friendly.
Le Pew, the cat, is looking for a new home. The poor kitty has had some rough luck at finding a home. Adopted out initially, the owner was forced to move and couldn’t take Le Pew with them to the new place. After being adopted once again, the new home didn’t work out as expected for Le Pew or her new owner. So, the search is on again for a new home.
ADOPTING A FRIEND
Interested in adopting a new best friend? There is an adoption application to submit at least 24 hours prior to adoption (waiting period may be waived at the Director’s discretion). If you live out of town you may request an application by email: smasadoptions@mahaska.org. You may also use the PDF link below to print out the application. After you complete it, please fax it to 641-672-9347. Or, download the WORD version to save, complete, and email the application as an attachment. (If you send it by email, don’t worry about the signature line.) We will contact you after we receive your application.
Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; it just puts you next in line for that particular pet. We place temporary “holds” on pets based on the order of applications received. (Please understand that we try to give every pet every chance for a good home and are in constant need of kennel space; therefore, we cannot normally “hold” a pet for longer than 24 hours.) If you have any questions, please call. Thank you very much for choosing the adoption option!
