Selemani, Steinkamp Continue to be Ranked Nationally
Oskaloosa–Two Statesmen women’s wrestlers are again receiving national recognition as the NAIA released its fourth set of polls Thursday.
William Penn is unofficially 28th in the NAIA as a team with 14 points. Mami Selemani (So., Iowa City, Iowa, Business Management) has garnered the most points by being ranked 13th at 123 pounds. Catherine Steinkamp (Fr., Quincy, Ill., Biology) is also still a fixture in the top 20, sitting at #15 at 116 pounds.
Life (Ga.) is #1 with 183 points, while Campbellsville (Ky.) is second with 172, holding off Southeastern Oregon (171) by one point. Grand View (155) and Texas Wesleyan (150) round out the top five.
Within the Heart of America Athletic Conference, Selemani and Steinkamp have company in the form of Brittany Cotter (Fr., Katy, Texas, Nursing). Both grapplers are third at their respective weights, while Cotter doubles up WPU at 116 pounds with a ranking of fifth.
As a team, the navy and gold are seventh in the league with 57 points, while Grand View is first with 219 points.
