SCRAA Approves Rental Agreements And Enters Closed Session Over Lawsuit
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The South Central Regional Airport Agency (SCRAA) met virtually on Wednesday evening to discuss the authorization of two agreements to lease land with Robert DeRooi, and a second agreement with Hilltop Ag Production, Inc.
SCRAA board member and a property committee member for the board said the agreements were pretty standard.
Amy Beattie, SCRAA Legal Counsel, explained that the leases mirror the tenants’ current terms with the previous landowners.
During the motion to go into closed session, SCRAA Board Member John Bandstra questioned past action where the SCRAA was not part of past litigation, and if the closed session would then make them part of litigation.
Beattie explained that litigation has now been brought against the SCRAA itself.
“There has been litigation that we refer to as the Site A litigation that is against the agency itself, as well as the city and the county, and then the county itself has counterclaimed against the agency,” explained Beattie of the necessity of the closed session.
Bandstra asked if the individual members of the board were involved with it.
Beattie explained that it was just the agency itself.
When the board returned from their closed session, they took no action.
