Ruger Lee Goemaat, beloved infant son of Quinton Goemaat and Caitlin Peterson, looked into Jesus’ eyes for the very first time on Monday, April 20, 2020. Ruger was born November 11, 2019 at Pella Regional Hospital and smiled his way throughout his 5 months and 20 days on Earth bringing joy and happiness to everyone he touched. He passed away while being cared for at the Monroe County Hospital.

His memory will be cherished by his dad and mom, Quinton and Caitlin; his sister, Remington Goemaat; paternal grandparents, Jesse and Ryan Goemaat of Hamilton; maternal grandparents, Caroline Kirkman of Slater and Bill Kirkman of Slater; aunt and uncles: Savanna Kirkman of Slater, Owen Kirkman of Slater, and Coty Goemaat of Knoxville; paternal great-grandparents: Pamela Blomgren of Oskaloosa, Greg and Deb Braden of Oskaloosa, Vern Dale & Jayne Goemaat of Knoxville, and Ron & Carol Zicarelli of Springdale, Arkansas; maternal great-grandparents: John Peterson of Slater and Deborah Milbourn of Ringgold, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather, James Blomgren; maternal great-grandfather, Kenneth Coons; and a second cousin, Cruz Marquez.

A private family funeral will be held in the Bates Funeral Chapel. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Burial will be in the Marysville Cemetery at Marysville, Iowa.
Due to the restrictions put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health to help stop the spread of COVID-19, all services will be private. For those wishing to watch the funeral ceremony it will be on the Bates Funeral Chapel’s YouTube Channel.
