Rhoads Now with Four Weekly Awards
by Wade Steinlage
Oskaloosa–Megan Rhoads (Jr., Schertz, Texas, Psychology) guided last week’s dominating performance by the William Penn women’s golf team, and because of that, collected another Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week laurel Monday.
Rhoads won her second-straight award and fourth of the year (five career accolades) after leading the Statesmen to the title at the Baker Invitational. WPU broke a school 18-hole record with a 298 as part of its 80-stroke victory; the squad has won four tourney crowns this season.
The junior was the only player in the 27-individual field to break 80 in both rounds, finishing at 155 (79-76). It is Rhoads’ second title of 2017-2018.
Rhoads currently owns a 78.7 stroke average over 16 rounds. She has 12 rounds in the 70s and has placed in the top 20 in all nine tournaments she has entered.
The award is the eighth for the program this year.
