Rensberger, Rowley Claim NFCA All-Region Award
Oskaloosa–Andrea Rensberger (Sr., Sioux City, Sioux City North HS) and Brianne Rowley (Jr., Hood River, Ore., Blue Mountain CC) ended productive seasons on the diamond with one final honor as the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NAIA Softball All-Region teams were recently released.
Both individuals were named to the Midwest Region’s first team with Rensberger entering as an at-large and Rowley going in as a utility player. The honors are the first for both players, who led William Penn to a Midwest Collegiate Conference regular-season crown at 15-6 (37-18 overall).
The team’s top power hitter, Rowley finished the year at .377 (61-of-162) with bests in doubles (20), home runs (12), RBIs (47), and runs scored (43). She paced the MCC in doubles and ranked high in numerous other areas as well as recording a team-best 23-game hitting streak.
Rensberger was the most consistent Lady Statesmen batter, posting a squad-high .389 batting average (56-of-144). The program’s lone senior, she had two doubles, ten RBIs, 34 runs scored, and tallied a seven-game hitting streak.
The MCC had several other all-region honorees with Grand View’s Emily Gilbert and Iowa Wesleyan’s Leigha Strong joining the Lady Statesmen duo on the first team. Jessica Magnuson of Mount Mercy was selected for the second squad.
