Reed Notches Defensive Player of the Week Honor
Oskaloosa–Madison Reed (Sr., Shakopee, Minn., Secondary Education) was a brick wall last week and for her efforts she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Monday.
Reed won her second career award (both this year) after leading William Penn to two victories last week and continuing its perfect record (now 5-0).
The senior opened the week with 17 saves in last Thursday’s 16-15 overtime win over Northwestern (Minn.). In a contest where she faced 32 total shots, Reed also collected four ground balls.
Reed then managed to save 11 of the 14 shots she faced in last Saturday’s victory against Saint Mary (Kan.).
The senior, who is 5-0 on the year, has tallied 46 saves on a .548 save percentage. She is allowing just 7.58 goals per outing and has produced eight ground ball.
The weekly award is the third of the year for WPU.
