Question of the Week: Are you happy with Oskaloosa and Mahaska County as your home?

Last week we asked you, Are lawmakers held to a higher standard? 40 (70%) residents responded with 28 residents (59%) saying Yes, 12 residents (30%) saying No, and there was no middle ground taken on this question. The Question of the Week poll is unscientific and does not reflect the view or opinions of Osky News.

This week I ask you: Are you happy with Oskaloosa and Mahaska County as your home?

Many times you will hear there is nothing to do around here, or that there is a lack of opportunity for adults and youth alike. Examples of shopping and cultural events in Des Moines, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids often make the life in rural Iowa seem less than eventful, or fulfilling.

Many residents say the benefits of small town life outweigh those bonuses of a city. Safer neighborhoods with a community that is there for each other in time of need. Affordable living, with employment opportunity for those that need work. They also point to a downtown that is being revitalized, with more shopping opportunities available than many people are aware of.

Now it’s your turn to decide. Vote in our online poll. The poll will be open until next Sunday when we will close the poll and release the final voting results.
