Quartet Garner Scholar-Athlete Recognition
Oskaloosa–Four members of the William Penn men’s bowling team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2023-2024 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes Wednesday.
Jared Smith (Sr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, General Accounting) heads the grouping with a 3.80 Grade Point Average, while Garraty Richmond (Sr., Ottumwa, Iowa, New Media) is right behind him at 3.78.
Bryce Keykal (Jr., Princeton, Minn., Education), at 3.71, and Caleb Sterbenz (Sr., West Liberty, Iowa, Applied Computer Science), at 3.62, were also lauded.
The laurel is the third for Smith, Richmond, and Sterbenz, while Keykal now has two nods in his career.
A total of 147 men’s bowlers from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport’s eligibility paperwork.
