Patricia A. Mitchell, 80, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, December 18, 2015, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born November 21, 1935, at Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Parke and Elsie Powell Lewis.

Pat graduated from Oskaloosa High School. On May 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Larry Mitchell, in Oskaloosa. Larry died September 6, 2004.

Early on Pat worked at Easter’s Super Value in Oskaloosa. Later she went to work at Hy-Vee in Oskaloosa until her retirement in 2008.

Pat was a member of the Good News Chapel in Oskaloosa, where she enjoyed Ladies Bible Class. She enjoyed sewing and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Pat delighted in spending time with her family, her children and grandchildren where her top priority.

Her family includes her five children: Larry (& Kathy) Mitchell of Chariton, Sheryl Woods of Oskaloosa, Gary Mitchell of Oskaloosa, Carol (& Mike) Beadle of Oskaloosa, and Jerry Mitchell of Oskaloosa; eighteen grandchildren: Winona, Chad, Michelle, Ali, Brandon, Daminika, Jonah, Eric, Logan, Alisha, Marie, Maggie, Aaron, Ryan, Madison, McKenzie, Andrew and Alex; twenty one great grandchildren: Lindsy, Kayla, Emily, Skyler, Spencer, Kennedy, Evelyn, Talon, Corey, Hunter, Nicholas, Jaxon, Bailey, Gabriel, Jacob, Olivia, Claire, Hailey, Breaden, Lucas, and Kambrey; a brother, Paul (& Mary) Lewis of Beacon; a sister in law, Maxine Lewis of Beacon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Larry, Pat was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Kenneth Lewis; and a sister, Jeanne Stap.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be open after 11 A.M. Monday, December 21, 2015 in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel Monday from 6 – 8 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Ladies Bible Class at the Good News Chapel.
