Osky 8th Grade Girls Fall To Grinnell

Oskaloosa Indians

On Tuesday January 3rd our 8th grade girls took on the tough squad of the Grinnell Tigers. The girls were coming off of Christmas break with minimal practice or association with basketball at all. The final score had our girls in the losing column with a score of 45-24. There were obvious signs of “rust” being shown on the offensive end by only scoring 8 points in the entire first half. The defensive effort was displayed and necessary rebounds were taken. In the second half the girls came out more confident and more shots began to fall. However, the Tigers continued to shoot well from the field and play solid defense. Again, this is a team that our girls can learn from and aspire to be more competitive with later on down the road.

Stats:
Kaylee Johnson: 4 points and 3 rebounds
Jillian Jennings: 8 points and 8 rebounds
Lindy Slocum: 4 points
Maddie Haines: 2 points and 1 rebound
Emily Simon: 2 points and 1 rebound
Abby Braundmeier: 8 rebounds
Pavon Knoot: 2 points and 5 rebounds
Ellie Henry: 2 points and 4 rebounds

The B squad was only lucky enough to play one half of basketball due to the small numbers of the Grinnell Tigers. Our girls came up short in this contest as well by showing “rust” due to having break these past couple weeks. Coach Knoot and I are always pleased with the way these girls play unselfish basketball. We all look forward to a week of practice to better ourselves and hopes for a strong finish to the season. Go Indians!

Stats:
Haley Iseton: 4 points and 1 rebound
Abby Vroesn: 2 points and 3 rebounds
Asia Spratt: 2 rebounds
Paiven Knoot: 1 rebound
