Oskaloosa JV Football Falls To Washington
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Monday evening was far from ideal for football. A rain had settled over Oskaloosa and made the play surface a slick, miserable place.
The Demons of Washington cranked off their 14 points early in the game with 2 touchdowns to put the Indians down 14-0 by the end of the first quarter. The Demons first score was off a run up the middle on a 21 yard gain from Justin Hoffman. Stafford failed to put the extra point through the uprights for a 6-0 lead with 8:24 on the clock.
The final Demon touchdown came once again on a Hoffman run. This time he headed left breaking free for a 41 yard rush putting the demons up 12-0. Carl Sivels ran it in for the PAT giving the Demons their final points of the game, and all that was needed putting them up 14-0 with 4:28 remaining on the clock in the first quarter.
The second quarter and third quarter proved to be a battle of defense and the weather, as both teams sought to find traction.
The Indians finally found the endzone with 3:24 remaining in the 4th quarter when Johan Renter snagged a 21 yard pass from Nick Rutledge to make the score 14-6 in favor of the Demons. The PAT kick was no good.
With time quickly running out, Rutledge once again finds his target in Drea Lamb with 0:58 on the clock for the 13 yard TD. Rutledge comes up just short on the run for the PAT, making the final score of 14 to 12 in favor of the Washington Demons.
The Indians proved good at moving the ball, even in the rain, and earning 12 first downs to the Demons 8. The Indians posted 156 yards rushing to the Demons 199 but went to the air better than the Demons with 58 yards passing to the Demons 0.
