Oskaloosa Girls Tennis Shows Grit Amid Tough Conditions

Oskaloosa, April 4, 2024 — The Oskaloosa Girls Tennis team faced a challenging match against formidable opponents Thursday night, braving very cold and windy conditions and having a tough day on the courts with a 0-10-1 loss.

Coach Bryan Kime reflected on the night’s challenges and the team’s performance, noting, “The girls didn’t have a very good night, but continue to show that they can compete with the really good teams.”

The match featured singles and doubles competitions, with several players pushing their opponents to the limit.

In singles, athletes like Hannah Nelson, Lexi Prather, and Loghan Edgar showcased their skill, taking their matches to closely contested scores. However, victories remained elusive as Oskaloosa faced seasoned opponents.

The doubles competition offered a glimmer of hope through the partnership of Hannah Nelson and Lexi Prather. Coach Kime highlighted their performance as the “loan bright spot,” with the pair managing a tie match, demonstrating their synergy and competitiveness on the court.

Kime emphasized the need for focused practice sessions moving forward, stating, “We need to have a couple of good practices to work on some situations to help get better as the season progresses.”

While the varsity team faced challenges, the junior varsity (JV) team had an impressive evening, securing an 8-1 victory in doubles and adding two singles wins.

As the season progresses, Coach Kime and the Oskaloosa Girls Tennis team are focused on growth and improvement, leveraging their experiences from each match to build a stronger, more competitive team.
