Oskaloosa Girls Power Through at Storm-Shortened Pella Christian Meet

PELLA, IA — Despite an unexpected early conclusion due to lightning, the Oskaloosa Girls Track and Field team performed commendably at the Pella Christian meet on Monday. The event was halted right after the 100-meter hurdles, but not before some of Oskaloosa’s finest had a chance to make their mark.

Tierney Carter was a standout performer, finishing the 400-meter dash in 59.79 seconds, a time that places her second on the school’s All-Time Top 10 list.

In the high jump, Ryleigh Wilken continued her streak of strong performances, securing third place with a jump of 5 feet 2 inches. Her performance was particularly noteworthy as it came against a field that included several athletes who had competed at last week’s prestigious Drake Relays.

The meet featured various other performances across different events, despite the absence of full results due to the abrupt halt.

Coach Betsy Luck praised her athletes for their resilience and dedication.

The early end to the meet leaves the team hungry for more opportunities to showcase their talents and hard work.
