Oskaloosa City Band for July 14, 2011

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa City band will perform on Thursday, July 14 at 8 p.m. on the bandstand on the city square. Mr. Bruce Peiffer, has returned from vacation and will once again be directing the band.

The band will open the concert with Karl King’s “Peacemaker March”. The lower brass section will be featured in the tune, “Them Basses”.

Andrea Dursky will be this week’s vocalist. She will join the band in “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, “I Dreamed A Dream”, and “God Bless America”.

Some of the other tunes include: “Hill Country Holiday”, “The Great Highland Pipes”, and Loch Lomond”. This week’s featured western overture is “Last Ride of the Pony Express”. Attendees may recognize theme songs from some old television shows when the band plays “Comedy Classics”.

Finally, the band will play “Circus Days” in honor of our special guests, The Windjammers. As a reminder, The Windjammers will perform on the bandstand on Friday evening at 8 p.m. If you miss Friday night’s performance, you can see The Windjammers perform at the George Daily Auditorium on Saturday at 3 p.m.
