Oskaloosa Airport Commission meets in regular session

Oskaloosa Airport Commission 2011

Oskaloosa, Iowa- The Oskaloosa Airport Commission met in regular session today. First item on the agenda was the approval of the minutes from the August meeting. The minutes were unanimously approved. The next item was that of the approval of the financials. After reviewing the financials, they were approved unanimously.

Under the old business section, several items were touched on. The first item, was that of the road repair project. The road currently has several buckles in the pavement. Airport Manager Jerry Strunk reported that if the project went unnoticed, he was concerned that Airport equipment could be damaged when clearing snow and ice from the roadway. The Commission is waiting on approval of a grant from the FAA to complete this project. No further action was taken on this issue.

The Commission also discussed the office roof. The roof was once again leaking. Airport manager Jerry Strunk contacted several roofing companies. The companies examined the roof and gave quotes. After much discussion of the quotes, the commission instructed Strunk to contact a couple of local contractors and discuss the possibilities of a metal roof.

In other news, the commission:

  • Received a report on the repairs to the kitchen at the Airport House
  • Discussed a contract the Airport has with a local farm
  • Discussed the status of the Airport’s application for a State Grant
