One Nation Under God

This week we will look at four things that God does not know. Hopefully the title got your attention. I am not suggesting that God is not omniscient nor am I going to try to discredit God’s intelligence, as He is the One who sustains all of the universe. We will, however, look at four things that God does not know.

God, first of all, does not know one sin that he does not hate. Yes, hate is a strong word, and God uses it in the most intense way in Psalm 45:7, “You love righteousness and HATE sin.” God unabashedly hates sin and displays this through many different verses in the Bible. As Christians, we too must have the same attitude toward sin as found in Psalm 119:104, ” Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.”

God, secondly, does not know even one sinner that he does not love intensely. “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live, ” Ezekiel 33:11. Even when it sounds so harsh that God hates sin with intensity, he loves those caught in sin so much more. He desires that all men everywhere would come to the knowledge of the truth.

Thirdly, God does not know of a way that man can be saved outside of the Gospel message. Romans 1:16 tells us that “the Gospel of Christ is the power of God for salvation.” We may think that there are many nice and gracious people in the world. We too must understand that the only way for them to be saved is through the Gospel of Christ (cf. Romans 6:3-4 and Acts 2:38).

Finally, the last thing that God does not know is a different time for salvation than now. So often in our culture we want things and we want them now. If you don’t believe me, we have drive-through fast food joints, pharmacies, and even wedding chapels! However, we change our tune when something that needs our attention is pointed out. “Nah, I will get to that later.” Later never comes. We become complacent and procrastinate important matters of faith. 2 Corinthians 6:2 tells us that “now is the accepted time; behold now is the day for salvation.” If you are interested in free “One Nation Under God” Bible study materials, please contact Mark Doland at the Park church of Christ at 641-673-4481.
